Purpose and career opportunities
The objective of the PhD program in Languages, Comparative Literature and Culture is to create a center for higher education and advanced research at the European level in the field of literary and linguistic studies from a comparative, intercultural, and interdisciplinary perspective, starting from the research areas of the FORLILPSI Department, such as modern and comparative literature, German studies, philology and general linguistics, Oriental studies, and modern language linguistics.
The objectives of the PhD program include:
- the promotion of comparative research including studies in European cultural history, with an in-depth examination of the relationships between visual arts, music, and literature, as well as from a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective;
- the training of PhD students to develop an in-depth awareness of the multifaceted approaches, methods, and contexts of linguistic and literary disciplines in their areas of expertise;
- the training of scholars capable of mastering the theoretical and methodological tools relevant to the linguistic, philological, literary, and cultural study of Germanic, Romance, Slavic, and Oriental languages.
